Welcome to Camborne RFC Ladies/Girls Section
About Us
In 2012 Camborne RFC had a dream of starting a ladies and girls section within the club. Back then our chairman Kevin Oates was under no illusions just what a difficult task lay ahead but he, fellow coaches, players and supporters founded what is today one of Cornwalls most successful ladies and girls sections.
True to our Cornish heritage you'll find Camborne RFC Benenes on our kit as Benenes is Cornish for Ladies.
Over the years the section has had many success stories with players going on to represent Cornwall in various age groups, the most prominent being Michaella Roberts who went on to represent England at u18 and u20 level, she currently plays for Bristol but comes back to Camborne whenever she can to help out with training sessions much to our players delight.
Camborne RFC Ladies/Girls Section has been a competitive force in Cornwall over the last few years, this season we've taken our game out of the county to play 15 a side rugby with some of the best teams Devon and Somerset has to offer.
We hone raw talent to maturity with quality coaching, targeted workouts and a true love of the sport. Teamwork, perseverance, sportsmanship and fun - those are the hallmarks of Camborne RFC Ladies/Girls Section.
“Growing up, women’s sport wasn’t as high profile as it is now, so for me it was about looking up to players like Brian and Will Greenwood, those guys who were very visible and playing in a similar position to me, I’d love it for young girls now growing up to say, ‘I want to be compared to a Sarah Hunter or an Emily Scarratt’. That’s definitely where we want the game to go and continue pushing to make ourselves as visible as possible.”
